There are two pubs within walking distance of Walkmill Lodge. The Inn on Green is our closest pub which is owned and run by Adrian Rosen. The bar has a pool table and dart board and in winter has a log burning stove. The pub offers a full menu and bar snacks and a carvery on Sunday’s which is extremely popular.
The Crown Inn is another popular option, but only when you’re feeling more energetic as The Crown is a fifteen minute walk (with a steep hill!) but when you do arrive you are assured of a warm welcome at this traditional 16th century family run country inn, with its beams, horse brasses and log fires.
The Crown Inn offers real ales and home cooking. Meals are served in the bar area or in a separate restaurant.
The Coach House – a luxury B&B is also only a short walk away. It has a wonderful restaurant which is open to everyone.
A short drive away we have the The Horseshoe Inn At The Bridges and Bottle & Glass (Picklescott) which are both good choices for evening meals.
Bishop’s Castle has a good choice of places to eat for both a light lunch and evening meal. The Three Tuns is a famous and historic pub and brewery which has been the “beating heart” of Bishop’s Castle since 1642. The Castle Hotel is an 18th century coaching inn with open fires serving traditional seasonal food prepared and cooked on the premises using local ingredients whenever possible plus daily specials on the blackboard and genuine homemade puddings. Bishop’s Castle also has an Indian restaurant and take-a-way – the Ganges.
