Walkmill Bridge, where The Walkmill is located, has closed today (22nd February 2010) for urgent repairs following accident damage. The Bridge is expected to be closed for up to four weeks.
The bridge, which carries the Wentnor to Shrewsbury road over the River East Onny, was severely damaged in early December 2009 when it was hit by a car.  This impact resulted in the total demolition of the bridge’s southern parapet together with extensive damage to the bridge walls beneath the parapet.
Unfortunately, because of the narrow nature of the bridge which is also on a sharp double bend, it has been necessary to close the road to traffic in order to carry out the repairs safely. The Road is now closed from 7.30am on Mondays until 5pm on Fridays for up to four weeks starting on Monday, 22 February 2010.
During the intervening weekends, the bridge will re-open to traffic under traffic light control.
